My name is Feabhra Mullally. I work for an organisation in Dublin that supports people with disabilities. I’ve worked in a variety of roles throughout my career, such as working with children in residential care, and also working with older persons, although most of my experience has been supporting people with an intellectual disability. I have worked several years as a manager for day services, and also worked in Quality and Safety. More recently I worked as a Case Manager, and currently I am Create Project Lead for the rollout of the HSE digital Health Passport in my organisation.
I am a Social Care Worker by trade and most of my experience has been working with people with complex needs or complex communication, which is where my interest in assistive technology was first sparked. I’ve been a member of the Assistive Technology (AT) committee in my organisation where we developed an AT policy and am involved in a Digital Inclusion group too. In 2020 I completed an MSc in Disability Healthcare Practice in DCU.
I have four children who still sometimes mock me about my slowness in grasping some of their technology but are also happy to upskill me (thankfully!). With the speed of advances in technology I sometimes worry about getting left behind, so it is really great to be a part of this Community of Practice!
